Mortgage Pro Timothy Griggs Is Banking On His Innovative App To Help Reverse The Foreboding Forecast Of Zero Wealth In the Black Community

Black Median Wealth By 2053 Is predicted to be zero.  A Black Enterprise, article stated "You can have a glamorous six-figure salary, advanced degrees, and an executive title at a large corporation and still be impacted by the negative net worth virus that is prevalent in black communities. According to The Road to Zero Wealth report published by Prosperity Now and the Institute for Policy Studies, the median wealth of black Americans will fall to zero by 2053 if current trends continue."

However, a sharp decline towards a median Black net worth of zero won't happen on mortgage pro and tech innovator Timothy Griggs' watch.  If Griggs has his way, despite gloom and doom predictions of disappearing Black wealth, his new technically advanced The Good Steward Financial System (TGS), app will help reverse the course of poverty in Black communities.

Timothy Griggs is a real estate mogul and the CEO and founder of The Good Steward Financial System - TGS App.  Griggs is nationally releasing the latest version of his app this week. He is also an experienced mortgage broker with Griggs Mutual Realty & Management a company in Eastvale, CA.

Due in large part to various forms of overwhelming debt, misunderstandings in credit management, and less opportunity in owning and capitalizing on real estate - white wealth is 10 times median Black wealth!    However, Timothy Griggs isn't focused only on credit problems.  He is instead developing a great solutions based online tool.

Danielle
Douglas
Danielle Douglas, a veteran consultant with business owners on getting contracts with government entities and the corporate sector, is the Founder of Black Business Owners Forum (BBOF).  The promising BBOF is looking in its 2nd year to help LEVEL UP Black business to grow and expand!

Every year Guidant Financial and the Small Business Trends Alliance (SBTA) conduct a survey to learn about small business trends and life as a small business owner. Most recently, they asked Black small business owners questions ranging from their experiences throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, in nexus to their confidence in business - given the current political landscape, to their biggest obstacles as business owners?

"It was interesting to learn why other Black business owners started their businesses, what they believe are their current challenges, and what they envision for their future.  As a fellow Black business owner, the responses completely resonated with me" shares Ms. Douglas.

Douglas also expressed "as small business owners, we often feel alone on our entrepreneurial journey. It can be freeing to know there are other business owners experiencing similar challenges that keep us up at night.  That's exactly why I did the above video! It was important for you to know you are not alone. Your story is our story and there are solutions to your challenges."

Danielle further appeals to entrepreneurs "Please take a few minutes to view the video above and the invitation that awaits you! "We hope it will be just the answer you've been looking for to help you address some of your most pressing challenges and to know you are not alone.

We are all in this together!

THE ANJEL APP LETS USERS ACTIVATE THEIR OWN BODY CAMS WHEN PULLED OVER BY POLICE

James A. Samuel, Jr., is a Black veteran who has launched a new app called ANJEL Tech that turns any smartphone into the world’s most powerful bodycam during confrontations with the police. James said that he became tired of raising kids in a world that forces them to understand they’re unsafe in their skin before they even learn their ABCs.

In past weeks in April, the world has been watching Derek Chauvin on trial for murder charges for the killing of George Floyd; seeing news about 2nd Lt. Caron Nazario, who is Black and Latino, getting pulled over by two police officers in Windsor, Virginia; and the killing of Daunte Wright at the hands of police. And these only are a few of too many stories of Black people being racially profiled and fearing for safety when being pulled over by police.

ANJEL Tech is an innovative solution to increase safety and peace of mind in the Black community. The app is secure, mobile, and cloud-based. James says that he created it because he’s passionate about preventing your loved ones from becoming another painful statistic. "Body cams can’t just be for police," he says. "So I created ANJEL Tech to enable a person’s phone to act as a body cam and a lifeline to loved ones to increase safety and accountability."

He continues, "When George Floyd was being asphyxiated, he was calling out verbally for his mother. When Lt. Caron Nazario was pulled over, he recorded the incident on his phone, but imagine if they both had been able to instantly and automatically alert their loved ones to come. Imagine if the footage of any these horrific incident had been controlled by the victim himself. That’s what ANJEL Tech does. I've created an app that reduces the emotional, financial, and physical toll of racial profiling."

MEET THE 94TH BLACK WOMAN TO HAVE RAISED $1M IN VENTURE CAPITAL FOR HER STARTUP

Janice Omadeke, founder and CEO of an Austin, Texas-based tech startup called The Mentor Methodhas raised $1.4 million in seed funding to galvanize workplace inclusion and equity by reshaping mentorship experiences in support of diverse, rising talent. As of December 2020, only 93 other Black women have raised $1 million or more in venture capital.

Every company committing to social justice needs to include mentorship as a part of their action plan. Mentorship is a proven way to propel workplace inclusion and equity, but the process of finding a high-quality mentor has historically been inequitable.

Most people want a mentor, but fewer than 40 percent of people find one. Companies often find attrition rates higher among diverse talent, and turn to The Mentor Method for an affordable, easy-to-implement, scalable solution that enables diverse talent to connect, share valuable career lessons, and have support with navigating career challenges so that they are more likely to succeed, stay, and develop into empowered leaders.

Multi-talented Musical Prodigy Gina Williams Works Creatively To Releash 5 Albums This Year In Different Genres

Gina Williams, is quietly shattering barriers of how things “should be”.  I caught up with the multitalented singer and pianist who diversely sings and performs in 5 different musical forms.  Williams, a product of striving Jamaican roots by way of a challenging Canadian upbringing - has a fascinating story to tell!

The singer, pianist, songwriter, and composer released a choral and orchestral album called “Olympiad” and performed with 4 choirs and 2 orchestras on Ukrainian National Television in 2019.

This year she is releasing 5 albums - Each in a different genre: EDM, Caribbean, Gospel, Classical, and Rock.

The multi genre musician was born to Jamaican parents in the prairies of Alberta.

Growing up with racism and prejudice, she spent most of her years hiding her gift of music - the ability to hear finished music in her head because somehow she believed “people like her shouldn’t be the one with “that kind of a gift.” Decades later, she finally accepts herself and her attraction to anyone unconventional.

Editorial: On Why Woke Folk Should Vote

By Kamau Austin, Publisher And Editor-In-Chief Scoop Publications

I may not get you to change your mind but I don't accept people like Dr. Boyce or anybody else coming off like Blacks who vote are stupid or just settling for the the less of 2 evils.
I'm voting because I pay taxes especially locally, I want more government contracts locally to give Black businesses viable contracts to then build wealth, hire more Black people in the US, and develop economic institutions.

Then take that money and invest in developing markets. I vote because it could mean millions of Black people having health care, jobs, and getting access to capital.

The problem for me is Blacks pay a good deal of taxes.  On 1.3 trillion in yearly collective revenue we are paying some where in the neighborhood of $250 billion to $300 billion dollars in taxes a year.  If we don't vote that is de facto self imposed taxation without representation.

Comrie, Carroll Pass Legislation To Shed Light On MTA Performance Data

Albany, NY—The New York State Senate and Assembly Tuesday advanced legislation that would enact the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Open Data Act. The bills, S4625A by State Senator Leroy Comrie and A1442B by Assembly Member Robert Carroll, which passed both houses of the legislature unanimously, would direct the MTA to release all of its public data, including information regarding its budget, finances, ridership, routes, and service, in open data formats on the state’s open data portal, http://data.ny.gov, and on its own website.

“Streamlined access to critical data on subway, bus, and commuter rail performance will go a long way in restoring the public’s trust and confidence in the MTA,” said Senator Leroy Comrie. “Our legislation is an important step in the direction of enhanced accountability and transparency, so I thank Assembly Member Carroll for championing this issue in the Assembly as well as the many advocacy organizations that helped us advance the MTA Open Data Act.”

“Anyone who rides the bus or subway regularly is well aware of the issues facing the MTA and its ability to run our buses and subways effectively,” said Assemblymember Robert Carroll. “With limited publicly available and accessible data, it is difficult for the largest transportation system in the United States to maintain credibility in the eyes of the people it serves. Requiring increased transparency will raise faith in the MTA and ensure that it is more responsive to the needs of New Yorkers.”

Can The Historic Southeast/Jamaica Queens Community Become The Next Black Wall Street?

"Southeast Queens Became The 1st Large Community In The US Where Black Income Exceeded White Income In The Surrounding Area," But Can It Learn And Evolve Into A Black Wall Street Like Community?"

By Kamau Austin, Publisher, The Southeast Queens Scoop, AMS/Scoop Publications

From May 31st to June 1st is the 100-year commemoration of one of the most insidious incidents in US and Black American history known as the destruction of Black Wall Street. It is claimed by the Greenwood Cultural Center that this prosperous Black community got its moniker from Booker T. Washington who called it "Negro Wall Street," which was later changed to "Black Wall Street."

Black Wall Street was started by a very successful Black Real Estate investor from Arkansas, who grew up in Mississippi, named O. W. Gurley. He purchased about 3 1/2 square miles (or 40 acres) of real estate in Northern Tulsa, Oklahoma, which became known as Greenwood, better known today as Black Wall Street.

He purchased his land in what was called the Oklahoma land grab of 1889. Greenwood was named after Greenwood a street in the area from a place Gurley lived earlier in his life. Greenwood was located on the northern part of Tulsa on the other side of the train tracks.

He set up boarding rooms and hotels and purportedly gave loans with other prominent blacks to African Americans to buy land and homes in the affluent Greenwood area. It is said because of the oil boom in the area Gurley became even more wealthy.

According to Investopedia, also other Blacks had jobs working in the white community in roles such as "high-paying labor jobs as maids, chauffeurs, gardeners, janitors, shoe shiners, and porters." However, they became a viable economic community by then keeping their money primarily circulating in Greenwood among each other in business.

The Ed Jackson Quartet Is Back In Action For "May We Motivate You With Jazz?!?"

"It was a real blast performing last month with the Ed Jackson Quartet, once again," reflects band leader and club owner Ed Jackson at the history making Jackson Room.  Jackson then asserts "we are working creatively on a future legacy of bringing uplifting jazz shared in our club and community to the whole world with cutting edge streaming video technology online."

The Jackson Room has been blessed and honored to have performances from iconic jazz greats such as Bobby Watson, George Cables, Willie Martinez, and Ty Stephens this year.  However, it will be a pleasure to see another performance again with the talented collaborators in the Ed Jackson Quartet.

There is something uniquely moving about the electric chemistry between the artists in the Ed Jackson Quartet.  Ed goes on to state "now that we are finally turning the corner on the pandemic, we are especially motivated to perform and endeavor to inspire you as well."

Why More Unity Of Purpose And Action Is The Best Way To Remember George Floyd

Written By Kamau Austin, Publisher Scoop Publications

Today is the one year commemoration of the murder of George Floyd.  As many people in the world are aware George Floyd died at the hands or more accurately under the knees of Minneapolis police on May, 25th, 2020.

No doubt billions of people have seen the brutal horrific act of then police officer Derek Chauvin pressing his knee on George Floyd's neck for a reported 9 minutes and 29 seconds -- until he stopped breaking.

The traumatizing act of seeing George suffer an excruciating death under the knee of Derek Chauvin, and also the knees of other police officers pinning him to the ground - galvanized people all over the world to protest police brutality!  Derek Chauvin, despite a lot of police tactics to blame Floyd's death on his drug usage, enlarged heart because of hypertension, and even exhaust fumes was convicted in a highly charged nationally telecast court case.  But on the sobering anniversary of his death what is our best way to remember his death?

HBCU-FOCUSED ENTREPRENEURS LAUNCH FREE VIRTUAL BLACK BUSINESS EVENT ON SATURDAY, MAY 15TH

Through their continued efforts of elevating the Black community, a group of Black entrepreneurs is facilitating a virtual conference for Black men and women in business. The 2021 Urban Business Assembly will focus on marketing, finance, health and wellness, as well as business fundamentals that can be incorporated into multiple careers and entrepreneurial aspects.

The May 15th event is a part of a contribution series that the entrepreneurs have launched to cultivate positive and resourceful experiences to inspire Black leaders. Their initial project was the Step into Greatness Scholarship for HBCU students. However, in their continued commitment, they have worked to integrate more resources that will assist both current and future Black leaders.

The event's sponsors include result-oriented companies such as owners Wesley Jacques of Blue Drem, a Digital Marketing agency; Zevi and Lauren Lacey, the founders of Urban Business Directory; Infinite 7 CEO Gia Mac; and Ashley Johnson, owner of Vegan Chef Ash. The Urban Business Assembly will be filled with gems of information from first-hand businessmen and women that have experienced years of success and even failures that have allowed them to learn valuable lessons and teach other entrepreneurs from their past business mistakes. The theme promoted throughout the program will be to encourage attendees to Step into Your Greatness while advancing their entrepreneurial endeavors.

BOOK REVEALS THE TRUE STORY OF LISS, AN ENSLAVED WOMAN WHO HELPED TURN GEORGE WASHINGTON'S SPY INTO AN ABOLITIONIST

Nationwide  Lyons Press is proud to announce the release of Espionage and Enslavement in the Revolution (240 pages • 978-1-4930-5247-9 • $25.95 • Hardback) by Claire Bellerjeau and Tiffany Yecke Brooks. In January 1785, a young African American woman named Elizabeth was put on board the Lucretia in New York Harbor, bound for Charleston, where she would be sold to her fifth master in just twenty-two years.

Leaving behind a small child she had little hope of ever seeing again, Elizabeth was faced with the stark reality of being sold south to a life quite different from any she had known before. She had no idea that Robert Townsend, a son of the family she was enslaved by, would locate her, safeguard her child, and return her to New York—nor how her story would help turn one of America’s first spies into an abolitionist. Robert Townsend is best known as one of George Washington’s most trusted spies, but few know about how he worked to end slavery.
