Should The Democratic Party Be
Abandoned By Black People?

One thing I must do is applaud all the Black people who discuss politics. But I believe there are some serious misconceptions out there.

Some people are claiming it is the Democrats who have always hurt or undermined the aspirations of Blacks. Nothing could be further from the truth.

It was a Democratic President (Harry Truman) who integrated the Armed Forces. It was Democratic President (John F. Kennedy) who said of those fighting for their Civil Rights: "the cause of the Negro is just."

Newport News, VA -- Nuekie, a skin care company for people of color, is delighted to announce the launch of the Nuekie Skin of Color Directory. The aim of the exclusive online directory is to provide women of color with access to the finest skin care services regardless of their location within the United States.

The online resource was created by Eunice Cofie-Obeng, a cosmetic chemist and esthetician, after surveying women of color and learning that many of them could not find a skin care professional who specialized in ethnic skin. Some of these women had even been turned away because the skin care professional didn’t know how to treat their skin.

Women of color deal with unique skin issues in comparison to those with Caucasian skin. This is due to the fact that there is a significant amount of melanin found in their skin and there are differences in the structure and function of ethnic skin. Some of the common skin care concerns women of color have include acne and hyperpigmentation which requires a level of expertise that very few estheticians possess. This is where the directory will prove invaluable.

U.S. Reps. Meeks, Meng, Maloney, Velasquez, and
Jeffries Meet with USPS to Discuss NYC Postal Crisis

JAMAICA, NY— This week, Congressman Gregory W. Meeks (NY-05) and Congresswomen Grace Meng (NY-06) of Queens were joined by staff of U.S. Reps. Carolyn Maloney (NY-12), Nydia Velazquez (NY-07), and Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) in a meeting the Members requested with the United States Postal Service (USPS) about the ongoing postal crisis in Queens and Brooklyn.

“This meeting was a productive first step, though it falls far short of a full and adequate resolution of the postal service crisis in Queens and Brooklyn. In our meeting, I was very candid about the shortcomings of USPS’ service in my district.

I retold my constituents’ stories about delayed and non-delivered mail, lost packages, and mailbox manipulation,” Congressman Gregory W. Meeks (NY-05) said. “Our constituents should never have to worry about the many postal service issues plaguing our boroughs. The postal service assured us it will hire additional staff—including letter carriers—to resolve delays and discrepancies in mail delivery; station USPS staff on phone lines to respond to comments and concerns from the public, and to ensure every postal matter is handled in a timely manner; and, retrofit 3,000 P.O. Boxes in Queens and Brooklyn to prevent ‘mail fishing. I’ll continue to hold USPS accountable as it attempts to fix outstanding mail issues in my district.”

Soaring into Greatness

By Dr. Jacqueline Evans Phillips

As I reflect on my life over the past few years, I have come to realize that many of the Storms I have endured have been preparing me for my Purpose. Today, I am able to reflect on my journey thus far, as God is refining me to serve and to make a difference in the lives of others.

My refining process has been a developmental one in which I am becoming wiser and more mature from each experience. Through these storms, I earned my doctorate degree, started my own company, Life Changers Consulting, LLC, authored three books, The Purpose Factor, The Greatness Within You, and Soaring into Greatness.

In addition, I am a contributing author in the Stand Up to be Heard 2nd volume, and book Women Across Borders.  My most recent book, Soaring into Greatness, testifies to my evolution in my business as I continue to Soar into my own Greatness.

It was indeed an honor to transition 15 individuals as my contributing authors in the book Soaring into Greatness. Many of these contributors had aspirations of being authors but didn’t know how or where to begin.

Taking this journey with my authors was indeed a transformative process. It was a great opportunity for them to share their journey with the world, illustrating how they overcame adversity and used their trials as a stepping stone to move into a higher dimension of Purpose. This process has been a healing and restorative process for all of them and has unlocked higher dimensions in their lives.
