Dr. Venus Rises From The Streets To Inspire Empowerment & Independence

Nationwide -- "Why is it when white women tell their truth it's all over the media," says Dr. Venus Opal Reese, creator of the Black Woman Millionaire Tour and author of the best-selling book by the same name. "Based on conversations I have had with hundreds of black women leaders and entrepreneurs who have attended tour stops nationwide, the word on the street has been that when white women started to speak up about Harvey Weinstein, it was big news. But black women having been saying the same thing for centuries and it wasn’t a headline."

They aren't wrong. Studies have shown that sexual violence affects black women at higher rates. More than 20 percent of black women are raped during their lifetimes - a higher percentage than women overall. Professor and journalist Shanita Hubbard provides insight into how this fact is tied to why white women get heard while black women don't: "Black girls and women are both viewed as hypersexual so our stories are ignored."

Dr. Venus, a Stanford University graduate and former tenure professor, discusses on her tour that the black female body is a "social non-being." As such, black women are rendered voiceless, disposable and powerless. She talks about how this has been the case since the 1600s when taxes and laws were created to justify the right to black women's bodies as the labor-producing workforce for the American Dream.

13-Year Old Gets A Great Distribution Deal With Whole Foods

Washington, DC  -- Me & the Bees Lemonade has announced the launch of their product into Whole Foods Market's Mid-Atlantic Region (Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey). Me & the Bees Lemonade will be available in all stores in the Mid-Atlantic region beginning May 11.

"I am so excited to bring our delicious lemonade to Whole Foods Market Mid-Atlantic customers just in time for the spring/summer season," said Mikaila Ulmer, Founder & CEO, Me & the Bees Lemonade.

"We're delighted to bring Mikaila's Me & the Bees Lemonade to Whole Foods Market locations across the Mid-Atlantic region," said Philip Baetcke, grocery director for Whole Foods Market’s Mid-Atlantic region. "Me & the Bees Lemonade is a perfect springtime refreshment - and each purchase helps protect honeybees and supports the environments in which they thrive."

At the age of four, Mikaila launched her business from her home in Austin, Texas after she was stung by a bee... twice in one week. Her parents encouraged her to research the bees and she learned how beneficial they are to our ecosystem and that they were dying. Like many kids, she wanted to know what she could do to save the bees, so she started a lemonade stand.

Dr. George Fraser Will Drive Home A
New Period Of Wealth Creation At PNC 2018

Nationwide  -- FraserNet, Inc., has announced that its 2018 PowerNetworking Conference (PNC) will be held July 5-7, at the Gaylord Hotel and Conference Center, on the National Harbor in Prince George’s County, Maryland. This year's conference top global experts will focus their training on financial literacy, business development and wealth building through personal "subject matter" excellence, effective networking and collaboration.

"Financial illiteracy is an American problem according to the Wall Street Journal, but it is 10x greater in Black America. All the studies, surveys and statistics predict if nothing changes within our community we will be financially destitute and enslaved by 2053.

A November 2017 front-page headline in the Boston Globe said, "Black Bostonians median net worth really was $8." Thus, we must effectively and aggressively address financial illiteracy and building million-dollar businesses in Black America. At PNC, we will do both and launch our national "faith-based" WINGS Financial Education Centers and Curriculum with the goal of 10,000+ centers up and running by 2028.

Our curriculum will focus on a mindset shift of "instant gratification to delayed gratification" and the 4 pillars for the inter-generational transfer of wealth to include; proper management of accumulated wealth, real estate, business development and proper insurance," said Dr. Fraser. (Article continues after Dr. Fraser's video and the sponsor's message)

First Black Owned Toothpaste & Mouthwash Brand Grows Naturally

Nationwide  -- Philip Garner, founder of Garner's Garden based in the Washington, DC area, is the first African American entrepreneur to manufacture and produce his own line of toothpaste and antibacterial mouthwash. His oral care products are fluoride-free, and use only all-natural ingredients such as organic neem, tea tree oil, and pepperment oil.

Getting started

In 2011, Philip transitioned into a plant-based diet and natural healthy lifestyle. He believed that what we put in our body is just as important as what we put on our body. After months of deep meditation, he had a dream which revealed to him his purpose: "Heal the world."

Reflecting on how his grandmother only used olive oil for her hands, his first idea was to create all-natural skin care products, such as personal body butters and bug repellants. After sampling his products with friends and family, he began selling them at local farmers markets throughout the DC area. He later expanded his production to hair care, face care, and oral care (which are his most popular products right now), and his company, Garner's Garden, became an official LLC in 2013.

Timeline: 4:35pm - Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson arrive at a Philadelphia Starbucks.  4:37pm - Both Nelson and Robinson send up prayers.  Starbucks the nationwide coffee house which touts itself as "the meeting spot" has some serious explaining to do to protect its brand.

Dubbed as the communal place, it now finds itself embroiled in a racial whirlwind where black space has been put on notice. In two minutes after arriving at Starbucks, both Nelson and Robinson were handcuffed; removed from the premises.
Both men were arrested, and detained for over eight hours. No charges were brought by the city’s prosecutor. The Chief of Police after staunchly supporting the actions of the police later apologized.
