MASON ENGINEERING HIRES A CHIEF DIVERSITY OFFICER

Nationwide  --  Christopher Carr's enthusiasm for diversity and inclusion in higher education and STEM springs from his experiences growing up in Missouri, and it is that background that led him to become the first chief diversity officer at the Volgenau School of Engineering.  Currently, Carr serves as the senior director of programs for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), but at the end of August, he will be joining Mason Engineering, where he hopes to make a difference in students' lives.

"Growing up where I did, there weren't many people who looked like me, but my mom and dad were great about giving me every opportunity to be successful," he says.

His parent's motivation led Carr to a science and math magnet school as a child, but after his first day, his mother found him scrubbing his skin raw in the bathroom. "I told her the kids at school said I was brown because I'm dirty."

This experience has stuck with Carr, and it set him on his mission to make sure that no child ever feels as lonely as he felt. He has focused his career around that goal.

CHICAGO-BASED ORGANIZATION THE SUGA PROJECT, LLC, SEEKS TO BRING EDUCATION AND AWARENESS TO TYPE 2 DIABETES WITHIN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY

Chicago, IL --  According to the American Diabetes Association, 13 percent of all African Americans aged 20 years or older have been diagnosed with diabetes. African Americans are also twice as likely to be diagnosed with Type two diabetes.

Known as a silent killer, diabetes has taken the lives of many. One organization seeks to put a stop to that. Launching today, The Suga Project, LLC seeks to open up the dialogue within the African American community about Type 2 diabetes and bring more awareness to healthy lifestyles.

"The numbers are startling," said Natalie Pauls, founder. "African Americans are four times more likely to have an amputation due to diabetes complications. African American women are dying at rates greater than any other group of women in history."

THE TRUTH ABOUT AMERICA'S RACIST PRESIDENTS

Nationwide --  "From the beginning the American presidency has been stained by racial prejudice, often a reflection of broader sentiment among white citizens. Such views have persisted well into modern times."

So wrote Sarah Mervosh and Niraj Chokshi in the New York Times on August 1st, 2019. What triggered the article was a newly released audio recording which revealed that, in 1971, then Governor Ronald Reagan of California called African people monkeys in a telephone conversation with President Richard Nixon.

To laughter from Nixon, Reagan also stated that Africans are still uncomfortable wearing shoes.  Revelation of this audio recording comes on the heels of President Donald Trump demanding that four Democratic Congresswomen of color go back to their home countries, echoing sentiments that racist whites have often hurled at African-Americans.

Furthermore, just over a week ago the president attacked a predominantly Black Baltimore-based congressional district as a "disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess", where "no human being would want to live." In the past, the president has also questioned the intelligence of prominent African Americans.

BLACK CONSUMERS AND SELLERS GEAR UP FOR HISTORIC WE BUY BLACK CONVENTION

Nationwide -- This August marks 400 years since the first Africans reached the shores of Jamestown, Virginia where they were auctioned for sale as slaves. In remembrance of this historic event, one millennial entrepreneur is planning a different kind of sale - one that he hopes will impact the next 400 years of African-American history.

On Aug. 23-25, 2019, over 120 Black-owned vendors and consumers will gather at the second-annual We Buy Black Convention in Atlanta at the Georgia International Convention Center. BLACK PARTNER FIRED BY LAW FIRM EXPOSES RACIALLY CHARGED "SHAM INVESTIGATION"

 

New York, NY --  Don Lewis is adamant that the sexual allegations levied against him by his former employer, Pierce Bainbridge Beck Price & Hecht LLP ("PB" or "Pierce Bainbridge"), are "absolutely false." He alleges he can prove that Putney Twombly Hall & Hirson LLP ("Putney"), the firm hired to investigate his wrongful termination, was intentionally deceitful. Lewis has filed a scathing response to the Putney motion to dismiss his claims, which includes a laundry list of flaws with the "sham investigation."

A. former NYPD detectives reviewed the investigation and said it was a farce;

B. evidence shows that either the False Accuser or the law firms lied about critical facts;

C. a time of occurrence was provided and retracted when it was determined it did not fit; and

D. if the False Accuser claims she locked herself in the office bathroom to get away from Lewis, why did she voluntarily offer to walk over to Lewis' apartment two weeks later and drop off Yankee tickets, - and then why did the lawyers lie about the entire incident and withhold the innocent related communication?
