Dawn Kelly The Award Winning Owner Of The Nourish Spot Recounts How White Undercover Cops Made Her Feel "Terrorized and Frightened" In Our Area
Dawn Kelly has won awards from the SBA, City Officials, and featured in Forbes Magazine

Dawn Kelly, a well respected restaurant owner known for her dedication and innovation in bringing healthy food choices to South Jamaica Queens recently shared her account of a fearful experience with what seemed to be NYPD undercover police officers.  Kelly is the owner of the Nourish Spot located at 107-05 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., Jamaica, NY 11433.

Dawn is also known for her advocacy for business and community development in Southeast Queens.  Ms. Kelly recounted on social media an experience of being followed by unknown white men who she later concluded were uncover NYPD officers.

Her expression of events should give people in the Southeast Queens area great concern.  What we shouldn't want in our community is a throw back to over aggressive and in some cases unconstitutional police tactics of the past used in the area.

A revert back to policies like the controversial "Stop And Frisk," that former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, admits was a mistake or arrest quotas allegations by the group known as the NYPD 12 is unacceptable.

Dawn and the writers at the Southeast Queens Scoop will be reaching out to the NYPD to get a response to her interaction with police.  Dawn Kelly's account of events on her social media page are shared below...

Account On Dawn Kelly's Frightening Experience With The NYPD Continues Below...
The Nourish Spot has gained local acclaim for providing healthy food choices in South Jamaica Queens
By Dawn Kelly, Owner of the Nourish Spot in South Jamaica, Queens

The new overseers — the undercover cops of the NYPD 103 Precinct riding around terrorizing lawful, abiding citizens in Southeast Queens - are on my mind this morning.

And please spare me the “gun violence” responses because my car has no tints, no broken tail light, I have no violations, I wasn’t speeding nor on my phone.  Last night I felt like maybe I was a runaway slave and I better find my passing through papers.

Here is what happened:

I was followed and I felt terrorized by two white undercover police for NO REASON AT ALL. It was like 7:20 pm immediately after I closed The Nourish Spot.

I was driving one of the kids (Name Omitted because a minor) who is employed by us home from work since it was so cold. I wasn't on the phone. I wasn't speeding. My car doesn't have tints.

When we got to 111th Avenue and like 159 street, a grey Ford pulled towards the intersection but we had the right of way so I kept driving. I noticed that although they had signaled to go left they turned behind me and got real close.

I told my young employee I think we are being followed and it’s probably police. Initially I wasn’t alarmed because I knew I WASN’T DOING ANYTHING WRONG.

However, they continued to follow me for nearly 10+ city blocks. In fact, they followed me all the way to my employee's house and pulled right behind me. Oh wait, they never turned on the flashing lights either just rode my bumper.

By then I was terrified, all I could think of is the hysteria over women being kidnapped and my mind raced to Sandra Bland and all the countless others that have been treated unfairly by NYPD.  So I got out my car and told my young employee to get out too and go in his home, but he was also afraid and was fumbling to get his book bag (he is a promising senior in high school who BTW just got accepted into Johnson & Wales ) and his food from the Spot.

It was then when I yelled out loud, why were they following me and the white cop in the passenger seat tells me they weren't following me (but they were now parked behind me though) and that he was going to give me a ticket for double parking.  I yelled and said my passenger is getting out my car and then I got back in my car.

I was supposed to go back out last night to attend Archie Spigner’s holiday party to network and chill but I stayed home because I felt terrorized and frightened. I wont lie. I cried too, both from anger and feeling like I was a runaway slave and that they had the right to impede my liberty.

I don’t care what no one says but these rogue cops are the real terrorists in my community. I have a lawful right to drive wherever I wish.

This is why black people mistrust the police. Yes, I said it and I won’t take it back.

I am going to make a complaint too. I don’t know if it will mean anything but my nerves are still shot.

Now, I am going to go to church now and pray.
