CHRISTELLE AWA FROM CONGO CROWNED WINNER OF AFRICAN MOST BEAUTIFUL USA BEAUTY PAGEANT

It was a night of bliss, fashion, music, and great African cultural performances at the maiden launch of the much-anticipated African Most Beautiful USA beauty pageant. Christelle Awa, representing the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was announced as the 2021 winner.

The pageant is organized by the Abofrem Area Foundation, Inc. with the goal of celebrating the diverse and beautiful cultures from all parts of the African continent in the United States of America.

With a first-place car, crown, and cash prize up for grabs, nine lovely and eloquent African ladies graced the stage at the Ritz Theatre in Elizabeth, New Jersey on the night of September 4th representing various African countries showcased their respective talent, poise, and intelligence in order to educate those in attendance about the fascinating cultures of Africa.

Could you use some musical motivation? If you're like me I could use some hot intense collaborative musical harmony this Holiday season.  Ed Jackson and his name sake band The Ed Jackson Quartet, can give you some musical inspiration.

The Ed Jackson Quartet, a world class band bringing jazz back to our community and now streamed globally from their club Jackson Room, will still be performing a streaming virtual concert (The Jackson Room Club Performance is already soldout).  For over 9 years Ed Jackson and his Quartet have riveted supporters and patrons at live performances in the Jamaica Queens area.

Ed Jackson will have his full band, including:

• Hilliard Greene on Bass

• Ed Jackson on Saxophone

Ed is an accomplished saxophonist & active jazz player on the NY & International scene. Ed Jackson’s dynamic sound encompasses both the tradition and future of jazz. His versatility enables him to move within the various styles of jazz while at the same time maintaining a unique sound and direction.

Karma's WORLD On Netflix is a Provocative And Entertaining Series

Karma's World is another African American character on Netflix.  My father asked "are there any more Black cartoons on Netflix?" 

This animation reminds me of Motown Magic because it has music in the cartoon.  Ludacris, the hip hop star turned actor is the creator of this cartoon.  I don't know this show that well but Karma Grant, is one of the main characters in the show and also her brother Keys Grant.

Despite The Rich Storytelling Heritage of Rappers Coming From Our African Griot Legacy Too Many Are Dying Young

Griots of West Africa told reportorial stories during multiple centuries dating back to the 13th century, and long before Spain’s slavery colonization of the Caribbean in the 15th century, and the Spanish and Portuguese (Brazilian 1550s) sugar plantations (18th, 19th, and 20th centuries). Also, these gifted orators and performers existed before America’s enslavement of African captives on The White Lion English privateer ship, August 20, 1619, Jamestown, Virginia and thereafter: 17th and 18th centuries of American colonization. --- Written Sources

 

The griots were traveling musicians, singers, poets, and oral family historians. Their inherently gifted knowledge and cultural influence (rhythmic beats, verbiages, dialects, etc.), throughout the Americas, helped us to create our language and music today from the list below:
