Minority Enterprise Development Month (MEDM) 2025 2.0 Coming to Town of Hempstead Oct. 2025
Hempstead, New York - Minority Enterprise Development Month (MEDM) 2025 2.0 1st day of activities coming to the Town of Hempstead One Washington Street, Hempstead, New York on Oct. 9th, 2025 and will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 9:00 pm. Since its inception Minority Enterprise Development Month in New York State has continued to fuel the growth of small and midsized businesses in the State of New York.Minority Enterprise Development Month 2025 2.0 will continue its unique partnership which includes:
- The Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.,
- 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc.,
- Lorraine Gregory Communications, and
- African American Small Business Foundation, Inc.
This year leading up to Minority Enterprise Development Month 2025 2.0 we will be hosting a series of Pre-Med Week activities prior to the month of October as part of our 15th year anniversary celebration. In the past MED Month have consisted of three major events throughout the month centered around providing quality content, tools, and resources designed to fuel small and midsized businesses throughout the state of New York.

Hempstead Deputy Supervisor Dorothy L. Goosby issued a proclamation from the Town of Hempstead proclaiming the month of October as Minority Enterprise Development Month at last year's event at Town Hall Pavilion.
At last year's event the chamber in a historic ceremony unveiled its newly designed lapel pin, and commemorated Founder’s Day by presenting its Vice President Rose Ward its 1st Founder’s Day Award.

The events for last year MED Month included a Town Hall session hosted by the Town of Hempstead Deputy Supervisor Dorothy L. Goosby; a panel discussion at the Hays Theatre located at Molloy University, and a Conversation with C-Suite Executives at Lorraine Gregory Communication’s Studio in Edgewood, New York.Hempstead Deputy Supervisor Dorothy L. The events that compose MED Month are meant to raise awareness among minority business owners, and the larger business community and support these businesses in their efforts to grow to scale.
Minority Enterprise Development Month will continue to fuel the growth of small business in New York State well into the future. “The Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.’s insight and knowledge of resources in New York State gives the chamber a unique advantage of helping its small business owners who are members of the chamber, and its wider network grow to scale.” Phil Andrews, President, Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
Minority Enterprise Development Month is also about leveraging your network of businesses through information on how to grow customer base, enter new markets, access capital through grants and contracting opportunities.
We often hear of the many challenges that minority-owned businesses face; but this is a time to celebrate the successes of minority-owned businesses.
