Leon & The Peoples Propel Revolutionary International Film Festival

Chicago, IL  -- Social Change is pleased to announce that its 7th annual international film festival, "ChangeFest", will take place at Chicago's historic DuSable Museum from September 28 to 30.

The three-city festival's mission is to curate a life-changing experience filled with film, fashion and fun that allows people of all generations, classes, ethnicities and nationalities to come together and see, hear and feel stories of hope and hardship from across the world.

ChangeFest was also developed to allow grassroots filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their truth-telling work. It also provides international exposure and distribution opportunities that often evade young filmmakers. Their incredible work is widely recognized, supported and impactful.

ChangeFest represents true diversity of thought, background and beliefs as attendees come from all across the world. Past film participants have included actor and director Barkhad Abdi of Somalia (Captain Phillips) and actor Eamonn Walker (Chicago Fire). This three-city experience has given participants the opportunity to experience over 29 inspiring films. Each event has a reception and red carpet with award winning filmmakers, influential business owners, activists and movie lovers.

"Film, music, fashion and art don't just tell a story, they remind us of our common humanity. They can give our eyes and heart a chance to see and feel a glimpse of the pain some people are enduring every day. They are also universal languages that tell truths and bring joy.

In a world that seems increasingly divided, and even angry, it's more important than ever to curate experiences that lovingly celebrate our common humanity while also creating the space for earnest discussion and a pathway to do something to help our brothers and sisters locally and abroad. ChangeFest does that.

I cannot think of better artists to showcase that sentiment than Leon & The Peoples, who will be performing this year, and the other special guests that will be announced. This year's attendees are truly in for a special treat. We thank our supporters, Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL and in-kind sponsor DuSable for making it all possible," stated Todd Belcore, Executive Director of Social Change.

The three-city festival will start in Chicago (September) and then move to New York (October 13) and conclude its tour in Los Angeles (October 27).
