MUSC DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION OFFICE TO HOST 3RD ANNUAL INCLUSION TO INNOVATION SUMMIT NOVEMBER 7-8 IN CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

 
Charleston, SC -- The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) will host its third annual Inclusion to Innovation Summit November 7-8 in Charleston, South Carolina. The annual summit creates an opportunity for organizational diversity strategists and thought leaders to learn from each other, provides a forum for honest and challenging conversations about inclusion and innovation, and builds and strengthens the network of diversity leaders across South Carolina and the Southeast region.

"The summit is designed to engage participants in an interactive, informative and intentional manner," said Willette Burnham Williams, Ph.D., University chief diversity officer and Title IX Coordinator. "With two keynote speakers, four workshop sessions and ongoing networking opportunities, this summit is for anyone involved in diversity and inclusion work."

Anton J. Gunn, MSW, chief diversity officer and executive director of Community Health Innovation, MUSC Health, describes the summit as "a forum to share best practices, challenges and opportunities in the field... The event will help you drive an inclusive culture that promotes justice, equity and productivity in your organization, and give you actionable information, from some national leaders, that can be applied immediately."

SMOOTH SOUL ARTIST, ANDRE DELANO, RELEASES COVER OF "WHERE WILL YOU GO" SINGLE

NEW CHILDREN'S BOOK SERIES ENCOURAGES BLACK BOYS TO BECOME DOCTORS

Nationwide --  Dr. Dale Okorodudu is on a mission to inspire a generation of Black boys and girls to consider Medicine as a career option. It's likely you've heard about his Black Men In White Coats Summits, but has launched a new children's book series called Doc 2 Doc.

According to Dr. Dale's Facebook page, "I woke up one morning and wanted my kids to read a book about Black boys interested in something other than sports. I thought...it'd be nice for them to read about kids interested in science & medicine. Well...I couldn't find a book for them to read...so I made it for my kids and yours!"

NEW BOOK, "BURDEN OF SERVICE: REMINISCENCES OF NIGERIA'S FORMER ATTORNEY-GENERAL," REVEALS THE HEAVY PRICE OF PUBLIC SERVICE

Nationwide -- The heavy price of public service is revealed by Mohammed Bello Adoke, Nigeria's former Attorney General - who presided over the nation's legal affairs during a tumultuous period - as he shares his exclusive story for the first time in his new book entitled Burden of Service: Reminiscences of Nigeria's Former Attorney-General.

BLACK EMPLOYEE FILES LAWSUIT AFTER CLAIMING HIS MANAGER TOLD HIM "THAT HIS HAIR COLOR SHOULD BE CLOSER TO HIS SKIN COLOR"

Nationwide --  Anthony Merriweather, an African American man from San Diego is suing the sunglasses company Oakley for harassment and discrimination. He says that his general manager told him that his hair color needed to be closer to his skin color.

Anthony works at an Oakley retail location in downtown San Diego, and says that he was told to go home because his hair color violated the company's dress code.

He says he videotaped the entire conversation, and a 10-page transcription of their tense discussion is included in the civil suit. In the conversation, his boss can be heard saying, "It's not a natural hair color" and "it has to be close to your skin color.
