Free Legal Assistance for Senior Citizens
New York State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village, Far Rockaway) hosts free legal assistance for seniors at his District Office in South Ozone Park on the first Monday of every month. Seniors who are interested must call Senator Sanders’ office at 718-523-3069 to make an appointment.
Help is available for the following: eviction prevention; housing rights; foreclosure prevention; property fraud; elder abuse; estate planning advice; predatory lending; social security, SSI, medicare eligibility. You must by 60+ years old and bring proof of age. You must schedule an appointment in advance.
The program is conducted in partnership with Queens Legal Services for the Elderly, a part of the Jewish Association Serving the Aging (JASA).
