In-Person and Virtual International Black and Brown Film Festival

Adrienne Whaley, Founder of The Black & Brown History Film Festival is a bit overwhelmed with the meteoric success of the continuing running movie extravaganza.  She follows in the footsteps of some of the leading Black entrepreneurs that come from our historic area.

Adrienne Whaley, MBA, MA, is on a mission The energetic and resourceful metaphorical renaissance woman will not be denied in her pursuit of using the arts to bring about positive change in her longtime community of Southeast Queens and Greater Jamaica.

Whaley has a body of work advocating for the businesses and talented artists in the area.  With the Internet facilitating a myriad of media options to share videos and movies.  Her film festival has gotten mainstream coverage on CBS and Pix11 news segments.

Queens Underground comes back on the scene April 16th, 17th, 24th and 25th with the 2nd 1st Ever Queens Underground International Black and Brown History Month Film Festival with In-Person Red Carpet seats and Virtual availability for Movie Shorts, Music, Dance, Poetry Videos, Web Series Episodes and Business Commercials to the continue the Film Festival which held it’s one day free Virtual Opener on February 20th.
 
Creating an Outdoor Red Carpet Pop-Up Film Festival experience, expect 3 Red Carpet Hosts, Filmmakers Panels, Live Performances and local Entrepreneurial Vendors at each Event with a call to “Join The Indie Movement” Sharing and Celebrating Talent from 16 countries and highlighting the “Best Of The Boroughs”. 
 
The Film Festival organizer is a Jamaica, Queens, NY native and this small nonprofit Organization brings something uniquely inclusive to the area, an eclectic Platform for all Genres, Categories, Underserved, Underrepresented minority Creatives including women, youth, filmmakers with limited budgets, as well as seasoned professionals. Proving that a small artistic and resourceful staff can still get it done no matter what, this will be the third installment offered during the Pandemic.

Last years International Black History Month Film Festival was a sold out Red Carpet affair with Red Carpet Hosts and almost 500 attendees, including HBO, Cinemax, Netflix, the Amsterdam News and filmmakers from 8+ states. This year, viewers can also tap into the talent Virtually, leave comments and donations for filmmakers and still see the Red Carpet Interviews, Live Performances and Entrepreneurial Vendors.

Queens Underground is one of the few platforms which includes a full array of Categories, Genres and Groups in a single Celebratory event designed for Indie Artists and to also bring the limelight back to this historic area of Southeast Queens which was once home to W.E.B. Dubois, Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne, James Brown, Coltrane, Miles Davis, Hank Aaron, Run DMC, 50 Cent, Ja Rule, Q Tip, Al Roker and LL Cool J,
