WE BUY BLACK CONVENTION HELPS BLACK CONSUMERS "MAKE THE SWITCH"

Atlanta, GA -- Get ready to replace your weekly Target run with a more meaningful purchase. On November 16-17, 2018, goods from over 100 Black-owned businesses will be on sale at the Inaugural We Buy Black Convention in Atlanta at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

And if you think there will only be shea butter and incense, think again.

"Our people create almost everything we need. There's really no reason for us to give our money to corporations and companies that don't have our interests in mind," said Shareef Abdul-Malik, 26 year-old Howard alumnus, event organizer, and founder of e-commerce site WeBuyBlack.com.

NEW ONE-WOMAN PLAY, "A DARK SKIN WOMAN'S REVENGE," TELLS THE SAD STORY ABOUT WOMEN GROWING UP BLACK AND UGLY IN AMERICA 

 

Nationwide  -- The world's first and only dark skin activist, the woman who put dark skin on the social media map, Rashida Strober will be performing her one-woman play, A Dark Skin Woman's Revenge, on Saturday, November 17th and the world is invited to watch.

A Dark Skin Woman’s revenge will be performed at Playback Sounds located at 675 Metropolitan PKWY suite C12 in Atlanta, Georgia at 7pm Eastern standard time. People can attend in person or watch online through livestream pay per view.

Rashida will also give one of her classic darkism talks on Friday, November 16th at the Ancient African History Museum located at 675 Metropolitan PKWY Suite 3118-B in Atlanta. She will discuss how and why she created dark skin activism, the first platform in history for dark skin created in 1998, and its impact on popular culture including social media.


The darkism talk also features her newest book, Token Dark Girl: The It Dark Girl of The Moment. Tickets can be purchased at DarkSkinActivist.com.

(Nationwide) The NFL Social Justice Initiative is an example of what happens when players, owners, the league and clubs work together to solve substantive issues and improve our communities. The NFL has several issues that it promotes -- Salute to Service, breast cancer awareness, suicide prevention, and the fight against domestic violence and sexual assault, to name a few. The players are behind these issues. They care about them.

That concern and compassion resulted in supporting the Players Coalition, aiming to tackle tough social justice issues such as educational disparities, police and community relations, and criminal justice reform.

BLACK POLICE OFFICER WHO SERVED ON AN ALL WHITE POLICE FORCE FOR 20 YEARS IS NOW A HIGH SCHOOL MENTOR 

Nationwide  -- When he was just 10-years old,  Sammie Lee Hill from Richmond, California says that an angel visited him and told him that he had a purpose in this life. The voice told him to go out and help and encourage others in need. He heard that voice and never questioned it.

As an African American boy born into poverty and extreme tragedy, he never allowed his horrific circumstances to hijack his mission in life.

First, serving on an all-white police force for 20 years, he endured extreme prejudice and was constantly mocked and ridiculed. But he continued on serving and protecting, and was loved by many.

After 20 years, he was offered the job of his dreams to be a counselor at the very high school he attended.

'THE OUTDOORSMAN,' A LOVE STORY STARRING SASHEER ZAMATA, PREMIERES IN LOS ANGELES ON NOVEMBER 2ND, FOLLOWED BY ITUNES RELEASE ON NOVEMBER 20TH

 Nationwide Glasshouse Distribution and Comedy Dynamics are hosting the LA premiere of THE OUTDOORSMAN on November 2nd at the Arena Cinelounge (6464 Sunset Blvd). There is a cocktail reception at 7PM followed by the screening at 8PM. Sasheer Zamata will be in attendance at the premiere, along with Peri Gilpin and director David Haskell. For those outside of Los Angeles, the film is available on iTunes for release on November 20th.

THE OUTDOORSMAN is an irreverent and empathetic portrait of Jason and Mona, two similar people with very different goals in life. PRETTI EMAGE SHARES THEIR SINGLE HIT RELEASE DEDICATED (MUSIC FOR MELL) DURING BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Nationwide  Pretti Emage, pronounced Pretty Image, is Florida's hottest young female hip-hop and R&B multi talent sensation.
