Kamau:  Can you tell us a little about your background and life growing up in Southeast Queens.

I am an only child, however; I grew up in a large extended family surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. I have always loved creating things and being unique.

I loved attending “fancy” parties and events and the art of transforming the old into a new spectacular. I have always been one to put my all into everything I do; and have explored various crafts over my many years.

Growing up I always knew I would own my own business, however; this longing has taken me through a variety of career paths that shaped my current business venture.

Kamau:  What inspired you to go into your present business?

Julia's Answer: There are a host of companies providing these services on the higher end of the market, thus leaving the average individual unable to afford these high-end businesses price lines. After working for several of these notable establishments, realizing they were not catering to the community within which I resided.

I wanted to change this setting and offer quality services and products to meet the needs of my community. In addition, I worked at a lounge during my college years which I truly enjoyed.

Notwithstanding the fact, I would continually assist many friends and relatives with their events, it has been mentioned that I take it on full-time. Therefore, after assisting with several events I was being asked why I do not charge for my services.

Interview On Julia Ottley Owner Of TriniFlavor Creations Continues Below...

Julia continues: I did not charge for my services but receiving items in kind for them to assist with other events. My long-standing friend suggested taking my services to the next level and I evenly began doing local pop-up shops.

From this experience and attending a business opportunity in the community I met other like minded individuals and I was inspired to branch out into business and bring these services to my community as a way of giving back. Growing up I have always liked crafts and have developed a keen sense of various hobbies.

I initially married my creativity and my love for serving others into my now budding business venture.

I always wanted to own my own business, but out of fear it took a while to develop the confidence to put myself out there. After listening to the Steve Harvey podcast entitled “Jump” I decided to live by the old proverb “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.”

I continued ongoing research on various drink blends with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages trying new mixtures, catering companies, and mobile bar models. Therein I choose to develop the unique model of my current company.

Kamau:  What is the name and services you offer in your business?

Julia's Answer: The name of my business is Triniflavor Creations. My business offers an array of services and products. Our main focus is on our mobile bar and event staffing. Our uniqueness comes from our customizable drink menu that is influenced by our tropical-inspired blends.

I try to offer every customer their own unique drink menu that reflects their individual personality. These inspirations offer our clients a drink menu tailored to their event theme or favorite liquor or flavor. Event services and hospitality is our inspiration, but our advantage is our palatable blend and attention to detail services which leaves an impressionable experience on our customers.

My goal is to elevate the bar experience and allow guests and hosts an opportunity to completely enjoy their event worry-free. I aim to open up customers to be creative with flavors and style to have their event “Make a Statement!”

I not only offer these services, but I also create Cocktails-to-Go, custom design drinkware and signature items to complete an event’s/host need.

Kamau:  What is the uniqueness in your business in contrast to similar businesses in the area?

Julia's Answer: The uniqueness of what I offer is the passion and details I take in the delivery of my products and services. I screen my independent contractors and engage them through networking with them to ensure they understand my vision for the company.

I like my brand to leave a lasting impression. I believe a well-blended beverage coupled with impeccable service can keep a guest coming back. It is important for me to create a product that is appealing to the senses and captivating to the taste buds. Good service and quality products lead to lasting relationships; this is my goal for my business and community.

Kamau:  Can you tell us about some of the challenges you've had in business and how did you overcome them?

Julia's Answer: Some of the challenges I currently face in the business is lack of exposure, which is something I am currently working on addressing as I increase my visibility. In addition, my ability to manage my time between my business and my current job.

I am unable to attend or engage in the level of networking and client engagement as I would like too; resulting in loss of business opportunities. Additionally, being my worst critic also hinders me, as I attempt to address every detail to have events and products, I render perfectly detailed.

My customers are always satisfied as I strive to under promise and over deliver on each event or product.

Kamau:  What is the best way to contact you?

Julia's Answer: The best method of contact is via phone, which is (917)-780-9357 or my website: https://www.triniflavorcreations.com.

I can also be contacted via email at Triniflavor80@gmail.com or on Facebook @Triniflavorcreations and on Instagram #Triniflavorcreationsllc. My phone is the fastest method of contact.

Kamau:  Can you tell us about some of your goals and plans for the future of your business?

Julia's Answer: I have many goals for myself and my business. Every fruit and flavor generate new goals for combing them into mouthwatering blended beverages, while I develop my line of custom design drinkware and apparels.

Some of the goals I plan for my business is to become a household name in the Southeast Queens and surrounding Queens’s areas. I would like to partner/collaborate with businesses, catering halls and other event spaces and specialists (caterers, bakers, and decorators’ photographers, etc.), to develop a go-to team for referrals and business.

I continue to take steps daily to empower myself with knowledge and opportunities to elevate my visibility within the Southeast Queens area. I seek knowledge in my area to be well qualified in many aspects to further open ongoing doors for my business.
