Families of children with autism and ADHD often face an uphill battle trying to find the right support, but one company, Licensed Behavior Analyst Professional Services (LBAPS), is changing that reality every day.
Founded in 2007 by Mrs. Yoheved Wasserman, LBAPS was born out of her personal struggle to find help for her daughter on the spectrum. What began as one mother’s mission to make services more accessible has since grown into a multi-state organization operating in 25 states and counting, offering personalized, compassionate ABA therapy for children who need it most.
“Mrs. Wasserman turned her challenge into a passion to help others,” said Justin Zisholtz, an outreach coordinator for LBAPS. “Every day, we see children learn new skills, parents regain hope, and families start to breathe again.”

A Personalized Approach to ABA Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy focuses on helping children with behavioral, social, and communication challenges develop essential life skills, from managing emotions and building independence to learning to express their needs.
Each child at LBAPS receives a customized treatment plan created by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). That plan is then carried out through one-on-one sessions by trained paraprofessionals or Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).
LBAPS provides:
In-school services (for children with autism or ADHD) - one-on-one behavioral support during school hours, covered by the NYC Department of Education.
After-school ABA therapy (for children with autism) - individualized sessions covered by insurance, in the child's home, with no cost to families.
LBAPS is among the few providers in New York City offering services directly in schools during the day, ensuring children receive consistent support where they spend most of their time.
Transforming Lives, One Child at a Time
Zisholtz recalled one of his earliest calls from a parent:
“A mother of a 13-year-old child called me crying. She said she felt like she had been raising a one-year-old for 13 years. That conversation changed my life. There are so many families who could be getting help but just don’t know about it yet.”
Since then, Justin and his team have made it their mission to spread awareness, so families can find help before they reach a breaking point. The results speak for themselves: parents report fewer tantrums, greater independence, and life-changing improvements for their children.
“Parents often tell us, ‘Where were you all my life?’” Zisholtz shared. “Hearing that never gets old, it reminds us why we do what we do.”
A Mission of Compassion and Community
With nearly two decades of experience, LBAPS has grown steadily while holding onto its original heart: a desire to help children reach their full potential and to ease the burden for parents who often feel alone.
“Even if you don’t have a loved one with special needs, reach out to a friend or family member who does,” Zisholtz said. “Tell them they’re doing an amazing job. And let them know about us, because early support can change a child’s entire future.”
As LBAPS continues to expand, their goal remains the same, to ensure that every family who needs help knows where to find it.

New Self-Help Book
“Blame It on the Feel of Pain”
About Detangling From Past Pain
Get ready for a transformational journey toward inner peace as indie author Max W. Miller’s new self-help release, Blame It On The Feel Of Pain, inspires readers in a witty, down-to-earth book. Truth and compassion are foretold, using poetic frames called ‘The Wises,’ and the help of opinionated little emojis bringing laughter and thought-provoking conclusions throughout.
The author encourages her readers, whom she also calls partners, to stop wrestling with the hard knocks of the past. She expresses how voluntarily walking back into time precedes trauma healing. Confronting lingering pains is a step toward strength and hope for the future. ‘Blame It’ delves into the author’s life experiences, bringing to life the importance of using Full Circle Moments to find resolutions.
Throughout Blame It On The Feel Of Pain, the reader grows to understand through a unique interpretation that what we are destined to become grows out of the years we’ve already traveled. Further, our future hinges on how we address the pains of the past. Other expressions focus on how desires in the present are carved out of having a clear vision that old, lingering strongholds must be defeated. A history of suffering is a prerequisite for becoming fed up enough to demand enjoyment now!
