TOMMY DUNCAN, CEO OF TRUSTED HEALTH PLAN, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, IS EY ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR® 2019 MID-ATLANTIC HEALTH CATEGORY WINNER
Washington, DC -- Tommy Duncan, founder and CEO of Trusted Health Plan, District of Columbia (Trusted) received this year's prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award® (EOY) in the Mid-Atlantic Health category. On June 13th, at EY's special gala at The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Mid-Atlantic awardees were announced and celebrated.
Recognized as one of the most prestigious business award programs in the country, EOY recognizes the most dynamic, transformational and innovative leaders in the nation. These unstoppable trailblazer entrepreneurs reimagine and redefine everything we do... the way we live, work and play.
"This award felt like a validation that all the grueling and grinding we've done over the past five years to outperform our industry establishment is being recognized. We've blended best in class technology with heavy human engagement deployed through brick and mortar wellness centers," Duncan says.
For the Florida A&M MBA grad and Detroit native, the entrepreneurial mind-set was engrained in Duncan since childhood influenced by his successful business-owner mother, Robin Barclay. "Unlike many I grew up with, I never wished to be a professional athlete or entertainer. I've always only wanted to be an entrepreneur.
My mother won a similar award when I was around 10 years old, and from that moment I set out to do the same. In my moment on stage I felt a profound feeling that I just showed my children their future pursuits would have no limit," Duncan continued.
