Author Max Miller Releases New Self-Help Book “Blame It on the Feel of Pain” About Detangling From Past Pain

Get ready for a transformational journey toward inner peace as indie author Max W. Miller’s new self-help release, Blame It On The Feel Of Pain, inspires readers in a witty, down-to-earth book. Truth and compassion are foretold, using poetic frames called ‘The Wises,’ and the help of opinionated little emojis bringing laughter and thought-provoking conclusions throughout.

The author encourages her readers, whom she also calls partners, to stop wrestling with the hard knocks of the past. She expresses how voluntarily walking back into time precedes trauma healing. Confronting lingering pains is a step toward strength and hope for the future. ‘Blame It’ delves into the author’s life experiences, bringing to life the importance of using Full Circle Moments to find resolutions.

Throughout Blame It On The Feel Of Pain, the reader grows to understand through a unique interpretation that what we are destined to become grows out of the years we’ve already traveled. Further, our future hinges on how we address the pains of the past. Other expressions focus on how desires in the present are carved out of having a clear vision that old, lingering strongholds must be defeated. A history of suffering is a prerequisite for becoming fed up enough to demand enjoyment now!

Juneteenth Events Taking Place In
Southeast Queens and Jamaica NY

What Is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth (short for June + nineteenth) commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation—liberating the last enslaved people in the Confederacy—more than two years after it was signed.

It’s widely recognized as America’s second Independence Day—the longest-running African American holiday, honoring the conclusion of slavery in the U.S.

📚 Historical Context & Significance

Although slavery officially ended with the 13th Amendment in December 1865, many in Texas remained enslaved due to lack of enforcement
people.com.

Juneteenth emerged as a celebration of delayed freedom—starting in Texas in 1866—and gradually spread nationwide. It symbolizes both emancipation and the continued fight for civil rights and justice .

Legacy, Symbolism & Observance

The NAACP highlights Juneteenth as an annual reminder that “freedom is a thread, and a fight, woven through this nation’s history,” calling for action to protect civil rights and equality. Source naacp.org.

The Smithsonian NMAAHC emphasizes themes of resilience, activism, and community—with celebrations centered on family, educational activities, barbeques, music, and traditions like wearing red to honor ancestors.

Celebratory elements include red foods (watermelon, soda, velvet cake), historic readings, oral storytelling, drumming, dancing, and flag displays.

🏛 Recognition & Evolution

Juneteenth has grown from local, often rural, church- and creek-side gatherings into state and federal holiday status—Texas recognized it in 1980, and it became a federal holiday in 2021.

Celebrations now span the country, combining joyous festivals with educational components and calls to action—continuing the tradition of using Juneteenth to advocate for voter empowerment and equity nationalwomenshistoryalliance.org

🎯 Why It Matters
Aspect Significance
Cultural Legacy Underscores Black resilience and community healing through shared traditions. Historical Accuracy Corrects the narrative by spotlighting when freedom truly arrived—not when declared.  Continued Advocacy Reminds us that freedom and justice are ongoing projects—part of an enduring civil rights movement looking to bring diverse communities together through celebration, education, and reflection while UPlifting the Black historic legacy in this country.

Rochdale Village Residents and
Southeast Queens Leaders Rally in
Albany Against 57% Housing Cost Hike

Albany, NY — Two busloads of passionate Southeast Queens residents from Rochdale Village, joined by local elected officials and advocates, traveled to the New York State Capitol on Tuesday to demand urgent legislative and budgetary action to save Rochdale Village—a Mitchell-Lama community now facing a crushing 57% increase in carrying charges.

“This must not stand,” said State Senator James Sanders Jr. of the 10th Senate District. “I wish that I could say they were just tourists coming to visit the State Capitol—but no, what has brought them together is that number: 57. Fifty-seven. A 57 percent increase in carrying charges, which means basically, in layman's terms, that your rent has went up 57 percent. That means we have made one of the most premier places in America unaffordable. On a personal level, I have not come to Albany to lose. I did not come here to lose Rochdale. I’m messed up and I’m mad. As I see the Governor there in the back, I want to mention that we must do something about this. These people are too good of a people to have out in the street. We are not going to see that happen.”

Senator Sanders’ Bill to Ban “Cashless” Retail Transactions Passes Both Houses

ALBANY, NY – In a major victory for economic equity and consumer rights, legislation sponsored by Senator James Sanders Jr. (S4153-A) and Assemblymember Jessica González-Rojas (A7929-A) has officially passed both houses of the New York State Legislature. The bill prohibits food stores and retail establishments from refusing to accept payment in cash, ensuring that all New Yorkers—especially low-income, elderly, and unbanked individuals—can access essential goods and services.

“Cash is still king for many New Yorkers who live paycheck to paycheck or who simply don’t have access to credit or banking services,” said Senator James Sanders Jr. “No one should be denied a sandwich, a bottle of water, or a loaf of bread because they don’t have a debit card. This bill is about fairness and basic dignity.”

Black Wealth Expo Brings $30K Pitch Competition to Queens
"Live Investment Opportunity to
Fund Local Black Entrepreneurs at
Resorts World NYC, June 21"

Queens NY June 21, 2025 — A major investment in Black entrepreneurship is coming to Southeast Queens just days after Juneteenth. On Saturday June 21, the Buy. Build. Bond. Black Business and Community Wealth Expo, sponsored by Airbnb and Con Edison will take place at Resorts World New York City with a clear mission: to put real capital directly into the hands of local entrepreneurs.

At the heart of the event is a Live Pitch Competition backed by respected political strategist and investor Patrick B. Jenkins. Jenkins is offering up to thirty thousand dollars in funding and is prepared to invest in multiple businesses based on the strength of their pitches.

This is not a winner takes all moment. Jenkins is looking for founders who are clear about their vision, ready to scale, and willing to offer equity in exchange for long term partnership and support.

“If we want to own our communities and build wealth, someone has to step up and just do it,” said Jenkins. “So I thought this would be a great opportunity to meet entrepreneurs with great ideas, and if they are willing to invest in themselves, then I am willing to invest in them.”

In addition to the investor awards, the competition includes a One Thousand Dollar Audience Pick gift. Attendees will vote for their favorite pitch live. This prize has no strings attached. It is a show of love from the crowd and an extra boost for a promising entrepreneur.

Employ Yourself
By Pierre Clark
The Entrepreneur's Corner – 21st Century Version

Employ Yourself – The SideHustlers Edition
By Pierre A. Clark

It’s been a long time since I wrote the original columns that spotlighted self-employment, creating your own job, and building a business. Now, a quarter of the way into the 21st century, everyone is catching on to what I learned decades ago: anyone can employ themselves, create their own business, and become an entrepreneur — and be Homefree.

It wasn’t easy then, and it isn’t easy now — because freedom is never free. Becoming a successful entrepreneur costs time, money, and most of all, effort. You have to believe the saying: If you can make a dollar, you can make a million. And if you can make a million, you can make a billion.

Take Grant Cardone — the entrepreneur-pastor of the economic freedom church — who popularized the 10x wealth-building movement. He did just that. And many others have done it too, through the boom years of the 1990s, the dot-com bust, the 2008 recession, and the pandemic shutdowns of 2020–2023.
