Black-Owned Pharmaceutical Company Develops Products and Programs To Close The Black Health Disparity Gap

Nationwide -- Dr. Wayne, CEO of Wayne Pharmaceuticals, Inc, is dedicated to closing the health disparity gap in the Black community. Based out of Cordele, Georgia, Dr. Wayne operates one of the only Black-owned pharmaceutical companies in the nation.

Wayne Pharmaceuticals shares an 18-acre campus with the MD Whitest Medical Institute, right in the heart of Cordele's west side, the most socio-economically deprived area of the city.  Prior to the acquisition of the facility, the campus was home to Cordele's historic A.S. Clark School, built in 1956 to provide public education to African American locals.

Dr. Wayne's goal in purchasing the school was to preserve its history for the African American community while developing it into an economic engine that would create jobs and revitalize the struggling African American community surrounding the campus.
Programs, products, and services of both Wayne Pharmaceuticals and MD Whitest Medical Institute center on uplifting the physical, social, cultural, and economic well-being for Cordele, specifically its Westside residents.

Sadly, Cordele-Crisp County, due to its high morbidity and mortality rates, ranks 152 out of 159 counties in the state of Georgia. In response, Dr. Wayne has launched a health and wellness campaign against common conditions contributing to heart disease and stroke, particularly high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes.

ENTREPRENEUR CREATES COUPON PROGRAM FOR BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES TO COMPETE WITH GROUPON

Nashville, TN -- While many startups and small businesses struggle with building customer loyalty, Black-owned businesses must work even harder because of negative stereotypes. One common misconception is that all Black-owned businesses lack quality customer service.

Danielle McGee, founder of Black Business Boom, believes we must create actionable ways to dispel the myths and bridge the gap between Black-owned businesses and consumers.  BlackBusinessBoom.com, a growing e-commerce marketplace for Black-owned small businesses, has launched a new mobile app to help build loyal customers and drive revenue.

Merchants will have the opportunity to grow their businesses by offering coupons and incentives to customers across the United States.

The Boomin' mobile app, which launches on October 1, is available for download on both iOS and Android.  "It's not enough to motivate consumers to support Black-owned businesses through social movements," says Danielle McGee, Black Business Boom CEO.

COMPELLING AFRICAN NOVEL HARNESSES THE POWER OF CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

Nationwide --  A single mother desperate to carve out a life for her son... a son orphaned at an early age. A legacy no one expected.

Keleti Sanon's debut novel is fertile ground for twist and turns. The author's previous work, Another Chance Maybe the Last Chance, was a nonfiction title that included a call-to-action across the African diaspora. In his latest release, Sanon delivers fine storytelling ripe with the message of faith, hope, and reconciliation.

In The Adventures of Bamo, author Sanon introduces readers to fictional characters, Diaka and Bamo Toure. The mother and son's stories begin in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and takes readers on an immersive journey through small village life in Oume, Africa to urban life in the United States.

Sanon says, "The project was inspired by my life and the life of my mother. In many ways, the book is a blend of stories from my childhood. I combine real and imagined characters."

Sanon goes on to say, "Storytelling is a mainstay of the Mandingo tradition and an integral part of the community. I grew up hearing stories, and they birthed a desire to share my voice, culture, and heritage with the world."

CROWNED! ACTRESS LISARAYE NOW AN AFRICAN QUEEN MOTHER

Los Angeles, CA --  The next time you see actress LisaRaye McCoy, you might want to put some respect on her new name: Queen Nana Ohema Ama Nyarko I. On Sunday, September 22, 2019, she was enstooled as Queen Mother of Agona Kwanyako of Ghana's central region. The regal ceremony was held at the Cicada Club in Los Angeles, CA.

Enstoolment, or installation, is one of the last great African tribal traditions. The Ashanti people of Ghana started it in the 17th century. In January 2019, American actor Michael Jai White was enstooled as Nana Akoto III, Odopon, a king of Akwamu in Ghana, and his wife Gillian White was crowned an Ohemaa Queen Mother. McCoy is in good company with other Americans who've walked this path before her.

Queen Mothers are leaders and women of power in Africa. They play vital roles in local government. The position comes with a lot of social power and influence.
