Nationwide  -- A powerful multi-part limited documentary series, Proving Innocence: Kevin Keith vs. The State of Ohio, examines alarming new evidence in a 24-year-old capital murder case where a possible police cover up framed an innocent black man. (Watch the trailer at www.justiceforkevinkeith.org). The explosive, new docu-series produced by Tent City Productions is currently in production and is gaining support by several black celebrities and political figures around the nation. The story will be covered on the controversial radio show The Breakfast Club with Charlemagne da God on Monday May, 21st, 2018.

Proving Innocence spotlights the 1994 trial and conviction of Kevin Keith, a black man found guilty of murder in Bucyrus, Ohio. The verdict, and death penalty recommendation by the jury, came despite what his defense team claims to be a complete lack of physical evidence and having at least four witnesses who attest to Keith’s whereabouts as being more than 30 minutes away from the crime scene at the time.

Since that day in court, Keith's brother, Charles, has dedicated his entire life to proving Keith’s innocence. He's spent years educating himself on the judicial system and uncovering the truths behind what really happened.

US Greg Meeks Advocates For Blacks, Minorities, And Underemployed Communities

May 10, 2018 From the Office of US Congressman Gregory Meeks.

“In this omnibus bill are three pieces of legislation I've introduced—all aimed at providing minorities with equitable opportunities and building up communities—and many more that I have proudly cosponsored...”

Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Gregory W. Meeks, Senior Member of the Financial Services Committee, and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, introduced the Jobs and Justice Act. The omnibus bill includes a wide range of legislative items that focus on economic empowerment of minority and low-income communities (Jobs), and criminal justice reform (and Justice).

"The Jobs and Justice Act's expansive scope is a necessarily thorough approach to fixing the inequities faced by minority and low-income communities, “said Rep. Gregory W. Meeks. “In this omnibus bill are three pieces of legislation I've introduced—all aimed at providing minorities with equitable opportunities and building up communities—and many more that I have proudly cosponsored.”

Rep. Meeks’ legislation included in the Jobs and Justice Act are:

H.R. 970 - Encourages corporate diversity by requiring federal contractors and public companies to disclose the race, gender, and ethnicity of their board of directors and senior management.  Rep. Meeks’ comment on H.R. 970: “That inequity, however, is even more pronounced at the top. Despite the overwhelming evidence that a diverse workplace generates better ideas and productivity, an overwhelming amount of Fortune 500 companies fail to reflect the diversity of their greater workforce. My legislation would shine light on the makeup of these corporate boards, and encourage more inclusivity.”

New Play Honors Black Nurses In The US Military At Fort Huachuca

Los Angeles, CA  -- "Fort Huachuca: A Tale of Sisterhood, Patriotism, and Race" is a debut production written by emerging actress and playwright Ailema Sousa and directed by Amen Igbinosun. A play set in Arizona on an army base camp, the story focuses on the contributions and sacrifices made by the African-American women’s army auxiliary corps (WAAC's) during World War II.

Ailema, who is a British native, developed the concept two years ago after failing to find a film or play about World War II that featured Black women as main or supporting characters in a narrative.

After doing some extensive research, she then discovered the pivotal and influential contributions that African-American women made during that time.

With the success of stories and films such as Hidden Figures and more recently Black Panther, she felt that a story like Fort Huachuca is needed now more than ever. "People obviously want to see a different narrative, and they want to see themselves reflected on screen and on stage," Ailema says.
