Assistant Teacher


Harbor Child Care in New Hyde Park is hiring assistant teachers to fill full-time and part-time positions.

ASSISTANT TEACHER JOB SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Head Teacher and Center Director, the Assistant Teacher will be responsible for working within the framework of Harbor Child Care carrying out its functions, educational philosophy, policies and procedures.

ASSISTANT TEACHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The Assistant Teacher, under the supervision of the Head Teacher and Associate Teacher, is responsible for the planning and execution of a classroom program that takes into account the educational, social development and health needs of the group as well as the individual child. The Assistant Teacher is required to lift and carry children as well as be physically fit to actively participate in age appropriate activities for the class.

Full time assistant teachers start at $11.25/hour and work 36.25 hours/week.

Hallmark Cards is hiring a part-time retail merchandiser at locations in Southeast Queens. The Retail Merchandiser is a part-time position that performs service work in the Hallmark department of various retail stores such as grocery stores, drug stores, department stores and mass retailers.

The RM is also responsible for building and maintaining relationships with store management. Visual Acuity - Having close visual acuity to perform activities such as: viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection involving small parts/details

Job Description: Executive Assistant Office Manager, Jamaica Service Program for Older Adults, Inc.

Jamaica Service Program is a not for profit agency servicing older adults and their families in southeast Queens. We sponsor five senior centers, an employment program for adults over 55 years of age, a respite program for caregivers and a crime victims program. Executive Assistant /Office Manager is responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support to the Executive office.

Education and Qualifications:

Candidate must have an Associate’s degree.
Knowledge and experience with computers (all programs associated with Microsoft Office), office machines.

Administrative office experience is preferred.
Responsibilities:


  • Assumes the day to day management of the administrative office
  • Performs secretarial duties for the Executive Director and the administrative office including preparation of documents, filing, coordinating meetings. Provides support to other executive staff when needed
  • Supervises clerical support staff (Title V)
  • Coordinates meetings of the Board of Directors
  • Attends full Board meetings and Development Committee meetings
  • Orders and maintains office supplies for the agency
  • Coordinates mailings (bulk and regular) for administration and fundraising
  • Maintains the data base for the agency’s donors
  • Ensures the agency has a presence on social media by maintaining the agency’s Facebook page
  • Any other reasonable duties assigned by a supervisor or director
