THE FIRST NATIONWIDE BLACK BUSINESS CRAWL IS HEADING TO THESE CITIES

Nationwide Official Black Wall Street is making an even bigger effort to support Black-owned businesses this holiday season. The tech startup, known as one of the largest apps and digital platforms for discovering Black-owned businesses, announced its first major event last week: the first nationwide Black business crawl.

After learning that 30% of the Black-owned businesses in New York City alone disappeared in 5 years due to gentrification, the millennial-led company decided it was time to put more effort into supporting brick & mortar businesses that are facing similar issues.

"It's startling. Since launching our app, I've had the privilege of speaking with Black entrepreneurs all over the country and I'm amazed at how many of them reported the same issues. Between rising costs due to gentrification and now having to compete with newer chain stores, it's an uphill battle for many. The holiday season is the perfect time for us to get out and support," exclaimed Mandy Bowman, Founder/CEO of Official Black Wall Street.

The crawl will take place Saturday November 10th and Sunday November 11th in 11 major cities including Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI, Durham, NC, Houston, TX, Los Angeles, CA, New York, NY, Oakland, CA, Philadelphia, PA, Tulsa, OK, and Washington, DC. During the crawl, participants will be able to go from one amazing Black-owned store to the next to complete their holiday shopping.

From clothing stores to food trucks, each business will provide a special offer or discount exclusively to participants who show the Official Black Wall Street app on their phone. Those who visit the most participating businesses will be entered to win a $700 gift card.

When asked about the potential impact of the event, Quincy Bedeau, CFO of Official Black Wall Street replied, "This nationwide crawl has the potential not only to unite us as a people, but to establish future precedent in spending our dollars towards businesses representative of our culture and community. It's a small first step towards wielding our collective purchasing power and recognizing the difference we can make once we work together."

Not only will this be an opportunity to support Black businesses, but the company also aims to bridge the gap between entrepreneur and consumer since each participating business owner is required to be present to connect with crawl participants.
